We all know what we need to do to lose weight
We need to eat less and exercise more. Really quite simple when you look at it. The problem is in the doing. Most of us just don’t get to the “doing” stage.
Â
Here are four simple tips that should get you started. They are easy to do and easy to continue with.
Â
1) Stay hydrated to lose weight.
Drink some water at least every hour. If you are doing any kind of work that causes you to perspire then you need to drink more water, more often. Should you follow the old rule of “drink eight 8 ounce glasses of water” every day? The amount of water you need actually depends on your weight and activity level. The more you weigh then the more water you need to drink. And if you are very active or work out then you need to drink more water also.
Â
2) Chew each bite of food at least 30 times.
This breaks the food down into smaller particles which contributes to good digestion and makes it easier for nutrients to be extracted. It also increases the amount of saliva that is combined with the food in your mouth. Saliva contains enzymes that contribute to the chemical process of digestion. So your mother was right when she told you to “chew your food.”
Â
3) Eat more fruits and vegetables.
First of all, fruits and vegetables are low in fat and calories while containing more fiber which makes you feel full. Don’t just add fruits and vegetables to your meals, have raw fruit and vegetables for your snacks. Try to eat at least 4 servings of vegetables and 3 servings of fruit each day. More would be better, especially if you are very active.      Â
Â
4) Walk
Walking is probably the easiest and best weight loss exercise you can do. Simply take a 10 or 15 minute walk in the morning. Take a 20 or 30 minute walk at lunch. Then take another 10 or 15 minute walk in the afternoon. To get even more out of your walking, take another 20 or 30 minute walk after dinner. After a few weeks, add some weight training to your schedule. You can purchase some hand weights or use a couple of 2 to 4 pound dumbbells.
